Team Ratings: Manchester United vs Arsenal 10/11/2013

1. David De Gea - 7 - Made a couple of good punches to clear the danger well on a surprisingly quiet afternoon.
12. Chris Smalling - 8 - Probably his best game at right back. Worked really hard in defence and kept Carzola quiet. Also got forward well but should probably have done better when found by a Van Persie free kick in the second half.
6. Jonny Evans - 6 - His passing was well below par and many of his clearances went straight to Arsenal players. Looked a little nervous but helped United keep the clean sheet in the end.
15. Nemanja Vidic - 7 - Looked comfortable and was winning the aerial battle with Giroud until a nasty head injury forced him off at half time.
3. Patrice Evra - 6 - Attacked well but needs to be more disciplined in defence as he is so often caught out of position and this allowed Sagna to put in two dangerous crosses in the second half.
25. Antonio Valencia- 6 - Had the ability to beat Gibbs but sometimes looked to be lacking in confidence. Helped out defensively but just needs to work on that final cross.
4. Phil Jones - 8 -  Superb first half display in midfield with a 100% pass completion and showcased his versatility yet again as he replaced Vidic in defence in the second half where he made vital clearances to ensure United kept a clean sheet. Easy to forget he's only 21.
16. Michael Carrick - 7 - Sometimes a little hesitant on the ball but stood in front of the defence and made United hard to break down in the second half.
26. Shinji Kagawa - 6 - Faded as the game went on but got stuck in well in his unfavoured position and helped out defensively.
10. Wayne Rooney - 8 - Worked his socks off. Got the vital assist for the goal and was unlucky not to score himself after he beat Sagna and sent a shot wide in the second half. Knew the importance of the match and led by example by putting himself all over the park to ensure United got the win.
20. Robin Van Persie - 7 - Got the all-important goal against his former club after good movement in the box and a lovely headed finish. Dropped into the midfield and helped out defensively in the second half too. Seems to be finding some of his form from last season.

Substitutions-

23. Tom Cleverley - 7 - Replaced Vidic. Didn't see too much of the ball but when he did he made 90% of his passes.
11. Ryan Giggs - 6 - Replaced Kagawa. Made a couple of good clearances on the edge of the box and showed his experience.
31. Marouane Fellaini - 6 - Replaced Van Persie. Took some of the pressure off by winning headers and helped United see the game out.
